Description

Our Goan cashews are well known for their moreish creamy taste and texture! Cashew nuts are technically kidney-shaped seeds because they grow out of a fruit.  The shell they come from is actually toxic but removing the shell and heating it results in creaminess. (We of course only sell fairly sourced foods, and therefore no harm was caused to anyone when harvesting.)

Cashews provide healthy fats, fiber and trace minerals!

Cashews are considered more stable than many other types of nuts because they have a high content of oleic acid. It’s still a good idea to store them in a tightly sealed container and away from heat in order to prolong their freshness. Many people even like to refrigerate or freeze their nuts, nut butters and nut flours to retain the most nutrients possible.

Cashews actually contain a fair amount of starch, which is one reason they make a great thickening agency in “milks” or creamy sauces, especially when they’ve been soaked beforehand. Check out our cashew based cheeses.
